Our Story
We have always had a love for Labrador Retrievers. For us, they're not a product line—they're companions, partners in the field, and part of the family. That outlook shapes how we breed and how we place every puppy.
About Labrador Retrievers
Labrador Retrievers originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were used by fishermen to help retrieve nets and haul fish. In the early 1800s, English nobles brought the breed to Britain, where they were refined and bred for their retrieving abilities, temperament, and trainability. The breed was officially recognized by the Kennel Club in 1903 and became one of the most popular dog breeds worldwide. Known for their friendly nature, intelligence, and versatility, Labs excel as family pets, working dogs, and service animals.
Our breeding journey
After years of having Labs as pets, we decided to work toward improving the breed and raising our own litters. Lost Pines Farm is a family farm: dogs get the same careful attention as the rest of our place. We are not a puppy mill, we don't sell to dealers or pet shops, and we don't send puppies to auction—each one is placed directly with a family. Breeding is one part of our life, not an assembly line, so we only have a limited number of puppies in a given year by design.
Our focus is health and bettering the Labrador Retriever. We use DNA testing to guide breeding decisions, share DNA information on the parents with puppy families, and keep up routine veterinary care so problems are caught and handled early.
How we work with families
We prefer a meet and greet at the farm before a sale is finalized, so you can see where pups are raised and spend real time with the puppy. We're not interested in rushed handoffs in unsafe spots; if the farm isn't practical, we're open to a reasonable distance and a safe location where you can still interact before you commit. We place puppies only with residents of the United States and do not ship—pickup is arranged with us directly. If we hold a puppy past the same day, we require a non-refundable deposit (refunded only in the rare case we determine the puppy isn't healthy enough to go home); specifics are always worked out one-on-one.
We offer a health guarantee for puppies as they leave for their new homes. The full terms—including how to report concerns, timelines, and limits—are spelled out on our For Sale page so nothing is hidden in the fine print.
